Larry Walton Colson

- — Larry Walton Colson, 64, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012. Larry graduated from Valdosta High School in 1966. He attended Valdosta State College and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Larry was the owner and founder of Colson Business Systems, Inc. as well as the co-owner of Splash Zone. He loved his community, and served in various capacities. Larry served on the Guardian Bank Board, South Georgia Medical Center Foundation Board Member, and the Board of Trustees for Valdosta State University. He was also a Blazer Booster as well as an avid Florida Gator Booster. Larry played as an amateur in the AT&T Pebble Beach ProAm with his close friend Paul Azinger for over 10 years. Larry was also an active member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church where he often served as an usher.  

He was preceded in death by his father, George Wallace Colson; brother, Gordon Wallace Colson; and uncles, Carlton Thomas Adams and Kenneth Carmen Colson.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Louise Colson; children, Rachel (Steve) Blankenship of Atlanta, Allison (David) Gracey of Arlington, Va., and Hunter Colson of Valdosta; his loving mother, Myrtice Adams Colson; brother, Greg Colson (wife Cheryl) of Valdosta; sister-in-law, Valerie Colson of Peachtree City, Ga.; many loving nephews, Todd Hatcher, Brent Colson (wife Cara), Brad Colson, and Trace Colson; as well as many great-nieces and nephews, Ellen, Cole, Julia and Tate Colson, Caroline and Davis Hatcher.

Good luck to all the Georgia Bulldogs this year. With Larry, Wally, GW and Dr. Moritz in heaven all you DAWGS are sure to lose this year to the Florida Gators!!!

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Park Avenue United Methodist Church. The Rev. Hale Bishop and the Rev. Randy Mosley will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
