Sharon Elaine Copeland Washington, 50 entered her eternal rest Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012. She was born May 5, 1962 in Valdosta Georgia to the late Mr. Frank Copeland, Sr. and Mrs. Doris Wright Copeland. She graduated from Lowndes County High School in 1980. After graduation, she was employed by Nashville Mills in Nashville, Ga. for three years. She later married Mr. Johnny Washington, her high school sweetheart, in 1984. She then changed her career goal to Healthcare by being employed at South Georgia Medical Center for more than 25 years as Chief Purchasing Officer, Surgical Department. She was baptized at an early age as a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Hahira, Ga. She later became a dedicated, devoted member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church of Valdosta where she held many offices and assisted with many committees. She was a member of the Mass Choir, she taught Sunday School, and was also a member of the Building Committee. She was a true worshiper of God. Not only was she a servant of God, she was very family oriented and enjoyed taking care of her loved ones. She was very talented in interior decorating, crafts and enjoying life. Sharon was a warm and beautiful woman who lived life to fullest with her enormous sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Doris Copeland, sister and brothers Narva Jean Seay, Frank Copeland, Jr. and Lawrence Copeland, Sr.
She leaves to emulate her life, her husband of 28 years, Mr. Johnny Washington; two daughters, Miranda J. Washington, Marissa J. Washington and a third daughter MaKayla J. Washington all of Valdosta, Ga.; three sisters, Linda Richardson (Freddie) of Valdosta, Ga., Edith Hedgeman (Reginald) of Washington, D.C. and Darlene Copeland of Valdosta, Ga.; two brothers, Arney L. Copeland and Alvin B. Copeland both of Valdosta, Ga.; a very special dedicated nephew, Lamar Copeland; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Annie Jewel Miller (Willie B.) of Hahira, Ga., Deloise Green (Dave) and Easter Elliot (William) both of Valdosta, Ga.; five brothers-in-law, Jessie Washington, Ben Washington (Lois), Milton Washington (Shirley), J. C. Gardner (Gloria) and Joe Donaldson all of Valdosta, Ga.; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and many, many other close relatives, friends and a loving church family.
Funeral service will be held Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 at 11:00 A. M. at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. George W. Blunt pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Troupeville Cemetery. — Scott And Roberts Mortuary.
