Jimmy Lamar Shaw, 75, of Valdosta died Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born on Aug. 17, 1937 in Valdosta to the late Elmer A. and Olive Lee Shaw and had lived in Valdosta all of his life. Mr. Shaw was retired as an engineer from ITT. He was a member of the Northside Baptist Church where he loved participating in the Senior Activities and his Men’s Sunday School Class. Mr. Shaw enjoyed antiques, painting, woodworking, and making jewelry.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Tyson Shaw of Valdosta, three daughters and sons in law, Angie and Fredrick Koehler of Valdosta, Penny and David Garren of Fairfax, Va., Tina and Kip Nunn of Hahira, four granddaughters, Anna Grace Garren, Mary Beth Garren, Olivia Nunn and McKey Nunn, sons and daughters in law, Ben and Stephanie Harrison, David and Cindy Harrison, Bruce and Karen Harrison, daughter and son in law, Christie and Davy Register all of Valdosta, grandchildren, Brooke Harrison, Blake and Jodi Harrison, Justin and Shellie Harrison, Jenna and Matt Lucas, Ashley and Austin Guthrie, Travis Carter, Caitlyn Register, Dalton Register, several great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jonita Haddock Shaw and three brothers, E. A. Shaw, Jr., Buddy Shaw and Wayne Shaw.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Williams and Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
