VALDOSTA —
Donald Bryant Gaskins, 68, of Valdosta, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 6, 1944, in Lanier County to Lucille Royals Gaskins and the late John A. Gaskins. Donald was a retired farmer and served in the U.S. Army for seven years, two of which was during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in El Paso, Texas. Along with his father, Mr. Gaskins was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Gaskins.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Joan (Browning) Gaskins of Valdosta; daughters and son-in-law, Lisa and Dale Harper, Nashville, Ga., Jennifer Gaskins, Valdosta; mother, Lucille (Royals) Gaskins, Lakeland, Ga.; grandchildren, Mary Katherine Harper, Kolby Alex Harper; brothers and sisters-in-law, John Daniel and Cindy Gaskins, Valdosta, Ted and Margaret Gaskins, Valdosta.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in Nashville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
