Hubert W. Hendley
Dr. Hubert W. Hendley, 76, of Nashville, passed away in the Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton after a brief illness.
He was born in Berrien County July 9, 1929, to the late Daniel W. and Ollie Lee (Green) Hendley. Mr. Hendley also resided in Tennessee, Mississippi, Michigan, South Carolina, Pennsylvania and Florida during his lifetime. After serving four years in the United States Navy, Mr. Hendley served the Lord as a pastor for 30 years. He worked for Teamway Builders building church buildings in many states. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nashville. He served as a chaplain in the Georgia state defense force with the rank of lieutenant colonel.
Survivors include wife of 52 years, Velva Allen Hendley, Lakeland; four children, Sharon H. Tillman (David), Lakeland, David H. Hendley (Hilda), Lakeland, Jonathan Hendly (Kathy), Hendersonville Tenn., Skip and Leora Moyer (by adoption), Kathleen; three brothers, Howell Hendley, Nashville, Hillman Hendley,Valdosta, Bobby Jack Hendley, Lakeland; three sisters, Betty Lou Hendley, Arlington Va., Annie Ruth Powell, Valdosta, Regina Spray, Nashville; 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial following in the Hendley Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 2 p.m. until service time.

Walter H. Johnson
Mr. Walter H. Johnson, 79, of Sparks passed away on Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at his home following a short illness.
He was born June 26, 1926, in Saint Lucie, Fla., to the late Arlie and Bessie Webb Johnson. Mr. Johnson was preceeded in death by his step-mother Mary Wise Johnson, and his wife Jean Wilkes Johnson. Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Army and was a World War II veteran. He was also a retired farmer and lived most of his life in Cook County.
Surviors include three daughters, Wanda Johnson, Sparks, Anita Whittle (Douglas),Ocala, Fla., Donna Ballard (Shane), Rapid City, S.D.; two sisters, Jeanette Hayes, Sparks, Ruth Bennett, Orlando, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jessica Johnson, Banks, Ala., Elizabeth Ballard and Kelly Ballard, both of Rapid City, S.D.; one great-granddaughter, Trinity Hope Johnson, Banks, Ala.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at the Sparks Baptist Church with the Rev. Elbert Cox and the Rev. Douglas Whittle officiating. Interment will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. tonight at Boone Lipsey Funeral Home, Highway 41 South in Adel. -- Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home.
