Thelma Gandy Browning
Mrs. Thelma Gandy Browning, 86, of Adel died Dec. 4, 2005 at Memorial Convalescent Center of Adel after a long illness.
She was born on July 30, 1919 in Colquitt County to the late John and Belle Williams Gandy. She lived most of her life in Cook County. She was a homemaker and retired from Nashville Mills and was a member of Springhead Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton Browning.
She is survived by one son, Donald Browning of Adel; two daughters-in-law, Barbara R. Browning, Peggy F. Browning, both of Adel; grandchildren, Dina and Tim Dixon, Adel, Steve and Lynn Browning, Hahira, Brian and Lisa Browning, Valdosta, Beth and Mark Sanders, Athens; great-grandchildren, Cayla Hooper Dixon, Adel, Mark and Caroline Sanders, Athens, Benjamin, Lindsey and Brooks Browning, Hahira, Brian, Harris, Billy and John Browning, Valdosta; and two sisters, Roger Lee Wynn, Adel and Fronie Fields of Santa Barbara, Calif. She was preceded in death by one son, Billy Browning.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005 at Antioch United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Lawrence officiating. Burial will be held in Antioch Church Cemetery. DASHER
Betty Jean Meadows
Betty Jean Meadows, 74 of Dasher died on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005 at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. She was born on Aug. 22, 1931 in Boston, Ga. She was very active with the Valdosta High Band Boosters in the late 1960's and early 1970's. She loved to design and create arts and crafts and give them to family and friends. She loved to cook for her family and made many cakes to support her church family.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Carl F. Meadows of Dasher; one daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Steve Dykes of Valdosta; two grandsons and one granddaughter-in-law, Gabe and Kristin Dykes of Albany, Blake Dykes of Valdosta; a nephew and his wife, Jerry, Jr. and Kaye Meadows of Dasher and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, W. R. and Pauline Chesser.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Pastor Carroll Joye will officiate. Burial will follow in Dasher Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 p.m.. at the funeral home. Edward Timothy (Ed) Coughlin
Edward Timothy (Ed) Coughlin, 46, of Valdosta, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005 at his residence. He was born in Akron, Ohio on June 2, 1959 to the late Edward Francis and Joan Johnson Coughlin. Mr. Coughlin was property manager for Cumberland Court.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly Coughlin of Valdosta; children, Alana Coughlin and Shayla Coughlin of Valdosta, Edward Coughlin, Jr., Kristin Coughlin, Nicole Coughlin, and Bill Coughlin, all of Akron, Ohio; two sisters, Cindy Crawford and Cathy Gottus; two brothers, Jon Coughlin and Kenny Coughlin, all of Akron, Ohio; parents-in-law, John and Annette Mullins of Branford, Fla., sister-in-law, Tina Noe of Valdosta; two brothers-in-law, Danny Noe of Valdosta and James Noe of Branford, Fla.

Owen Hezekiah Davis Sr.
Owen Hezekiah Davis Sr., of Valdosta expired on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at 90 years of age at Smith Northview Hospital, Valdosta.
He was born on July 28, 1915 in Lowndes County, Ga. to the late Henry Wilson Davis Jr. and Essie Woods Davis. He became a member of Silverrun Baptist Church at an early age. Mr. Davis served many years as Senior Deacon on the Deacon Board until his declining health restricted his active participation. Silverrun Baptist Church is located in Ousley, Ga. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Davis served as teacher, school principal and administrator for 38 years with the Lowndes Board of Education. He held positions in Hahira, Mineola, Bemiss Elementary, Wood Chapel Elementary, P.G. Williams Elementary, Clyattville Elementary and the Westside School Center.
Mr. Davis was a World War II veteran, serving with the United States Army. His tour of duty included a period of time in the Philippines.
Mr. Owen Sr. leaves to mourn his devoted wife of 65 years, Mrs. Mable J. Davis and six of their eight children. Two daughters, Julia (Ernest) Davis, Essie Almond (Clarence), both of Valdosta; four sons, Owen Davis, Jr. (Carla) Tampa, Fla.; Fred Davis (Susie); Kenneth L. Davis, Sylvester Davis, all of Valdosta; 15 grandchildren; Stephania Williams, Owen Davis III, Margaret Davis, all of Valdosta, Bernard Davis, Miami, Fla., Gregory Davis and Mikayla Davis, Tampa, Fla., Mable Donita Curry, Columbus, Monte Davis, Albany, Eric Davis, Atlanta, Dominique Davis, Valdosta, Aprille S. Davis and Shayla Davis, Atlanta, Traci Gosier Bainbridge, Ramonia Smith, Jackie Davis Jr., and Chantily Flucas, all of Valdosta; 25-great-grandchildren; sisters, Escile Floyd, Gertrude Garvin, Florence Brooks, all of Detroit, Mich., Fannie Cunningham, Akron, Ohio, Almareen Stewart, St. Louis, Mo., as well as one surviving aunt, Arizona Sermons,; one uncle, Ellis Woods; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also cousin, Verdell Bea; god family, David and Alma Troy and Liletta Washington. He is preceded in death by two children, son, Jackie Davis, daughter, Ruby Davis; grandchild Kenneth L. Davis Jr.; two sisters, Viola Herring, Ruby Howell; and brother, Henry Davis.
