Carolyn Faye Lashley‚ 58, of Adel passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006 in Louis Smith Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born on July 23, 1947 in Cook County to the late Vernon and Nancy Exum. She was a member of Lakeland Church of God. She was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Martha Exum and Carolyn Exum and a brother-in-law, Charles Mann.
Survivors Include her husband, William J. Tailor Emily Chaney
Tailor Emily Chaney‚ 6, of Naylor passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006 in Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla. of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born on Nov. 1, 1999 in Lowndes County and had lived in Naylor all of her life. She had several nick names Pretty Girl, Tater Bug and Tay-Tay. Tailor was a kindergartner at Lanier County Elementary School her teachers were Mrs. Oliver and Mrs. McCrae. She was an active little girl who loved playing of T-Ball, being a cheerleader, going to work with her papa David, listening to Alan Jackson and eating Chicken Bits.

Eloise Luke Moore, 75 of Sparks died Jan. 4, 2006 at her residence after a short illness.
She was born on May 15, 1930 in Lowndes County to the late William Perry and Fannie Estelle Nash Luke. She lived in Cook County most of her life. She was a homemaker and member of Lenox Christian Fellowship Life Center. She is preceded in death by her husband Wilbern Jerome “Bill” Moore and two brothers, Arlin Luke and W.P. “Pete” Luke, Jr.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jerome and Debra Moore of Sparks; three daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Ricky Wright, Norman Park, Sylvia and Richard Varnadoe and Patricia and Mike Weeks, all of Sparks; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Luke, Lake Park; and four sisters Emma Mae Simpson, Lake Park, Faye Arrowood, Iris Stubbs, and Christine Cribbs, all of Ray City.

Winifed DeVisser Mercer
Winifed DeVisser Mercer, 83, of Quitman died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006 at South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in London, England she was the daughter of Christiaan and Ada Emmet DeVisser. She was a homemaker and a member of the Quitman United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Evey Mercer of Cecil, David and Barbara Mercer of Valdosta; niece, Shirley and Jim Lungsley of Brightlingsea, England; three grandchildren, Chad Mercer, Keith Mercer, and Keri Zipper. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Mercer.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2005 at the Quitman United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jay Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. this evening.

Theresa Ann Bennett, 65 of Valdosta, died on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006 at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Born on Jan. 22, 1940 in Lakewood, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Catheryn Carney Morey and was a member of Unity Sabbath Church of God.
Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Judy and Bob Croft, Terri Lynne Temples all of Valdosta, Jo Jo and John Wolf of Stockbridge; six grandchildren, Gina McCullers, Jason Rothrock, Rocky Rothrock, Joshua Boone Temples, Crystal Ganas and Jessica Ga.nas; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elva Murray of BarneGa.t, N.J.

William Chris Blane Sr.
William Chris Blane Sr., died on Jan. 2, 2006, at his home in Valdosta, Ga. Born on Sept. 22, 1928, in Charlottesville, Va., William (Bill) C. Blane, Sr., was the son of the late Mary and Chris Blane who immigrated from Greece. The Blane family were the owners of the famous Green Turtle Restaurant in Valdosta. Bill graduated from Thomasville High School, Thomasville, Ga., and served in the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Franklin Blane, of Virginia, in 1975. He was an entrepreneur with businesses in the South East and Texas and was well known for his movie theatres in Valdosta, Ga. Bill was a devoted member of the Greek Orthodox Church. He was a member of the Rotary Club and many charitable organizations. Bill will be best remembered as an avid, skillful sportsman with a passion for hunting and fishing. His deep love for his family, and his life long hobby of photography have resulted in professional quality photographs that will be treasured memories of his time with us.
The family will receive friends today, Jan. 6, 2006, from 6- 8 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with burial following at Riverview Memorial Gardens.

Bernice Oveda Touchton Carter, 83, of Valdosta passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, in Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Ga., after a brief illness. She was born on Aug. 27, 1922, in Fargo, Ga.
Ms. Carter lived in Valdosta for the last 10 years, but had lived in Homerville most of her life. She was a member of New Vision Church of God in Homerville and was attending Browning’s Chapel Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ga.rnett Carter.

Mr. Nivey (Sweetie) Sapp, age 61, was born Aug. 16, 1944, in Lowndes County to the late Mr. Ivory Sapp and Are Mae Brown. He departed this life on Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, at his residence.
Nivey received his formal education in the Valdosta public school system.
He was employed by the Lowndes Roofing Co. for 20 years. He resided at 804 1/2 Plum Street. He was married to Mrs. Jennie Sapp.
Those who preceded him in death are his father, Ivory Sapp; his mother, Are Mae Brown Sapp; brother, George Sapp; sister, Betty Smithson; and one son, Nivey Sapp Jr.
He leaves to lament his homegoing his wife, Jennie Sapp; stepmother, Hattie Sapp; three daughters, Stephanie, Sandra and Tomeka; five sons, Tyvionne, Shaivon, Jarvis, Charlie Johnson and Ervin Johnson; 13 grandchildren; six sisters, Annette Gordon (Ronald), Marion Griffith (David), Sandra Sapp (Sam), Jeanette Sapp, Morris Gosier and Annie Doris Peterson; three brothers, William Sapp of Valdosta, Charles Sapp of Oakland, Calif., and Ivory Sapp Jr. of Willington, De.
