MADISON, Fla.

Charles Walker

Charles Walker, 70, of Madison, Fla., passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2007, in Madison.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 28, 2007, at Beggs Funeral Home, Madison Chapel, with burial to follow in Mt. Horeb Cemetery, Pinetta. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Beggs Funeral Home. Donations may be made for Giddens Bibles at 148 E. Base St., Madison, FL 32340.

He was born in Lanier County and lived in Madison County most of his life. He was an active member of Unity Baptist Church and was a mason. He was employed as an electrician for 42 years at PCA. He was also in the Air Force.

He was survived by his wife, Ruth Walker of Pinetta; three sons, Charles Deaki Walker and (Lori) of Pinetta, Wayne Vickers of Pinetta, David Vickers and (Debra) of Madison; one daughter, Tecla Washington and (Joe) of Madison; two brothers, Norman Walker and (Betty) of Pinetta, Robert Walker and (Robbie) of Pinetta; two sisters, Elizabeth Haraz of Pinetta, and Edith Tyre of Jasper; one sister-in-law, Sybil Powell and (Roger) of Pinetta; one brother-in-law, Tommy Corbett and (Theresa); three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren; and various nieces and nephews. — Beggs Funeral Home, Madison, Fla.

Irene Snipes Williams

Irene Snipes Williams, 65, of Ray City died at her residence following a brief illness. Born in Aiken, S.C., to the late Osie Snipes and Carrie Lee Bailey Snipes, she was a resident of this area for 30 years and was a supervisor for the Moody Air Force Base NCO and Officers Club. Mrs. Williams was of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include a daughter, Angela Williams of Valdosta; sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Linda Kay Williams of Adel, Timothy Williams of Brunswick, Kenneth Lanier and Cindy Adams of Valdosta, James Aubry Adams of Joanna S.C.; seven grandchildren, Brittany Williams of Adel, Heather Williams of Valdosta, Brianna Williams of Adel, Emily Williams and Erica Williams, both of Clyattville, Brandon Munoz and Blake Munoz, both of Adel; her mother, Ruby Snipes of Clinton, S.C.; sisters and brother-in-law, Kay Wilbanks and Sharon Bolt, both of Lauren, S.C., Arnie and Homer Smith of Batesburg, S.C., Mildred Lyles of Columbia, S.C., Charron Galamore of Alabama; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jasper and Loretta Johnson of Aiken, S.C., Michael and Debbie Snipes of Alabama, Donnie and Darlene Snipes of Valdosta; special friends and former daughters-in-law, Christina William, Connie Renee Roy and Michelle Meets, all of Valdosta; other special friends, Dave and Westey LaPlante, Tish Barker, Lori Horne all of Valdosta, Daisey Waldenmeyer and Mandy and Rick Carter, all of Warner Robins, Chris Reece of Adel, Carla Orsini of New York, Julie Burt of Valdosta, Sonya Coyle and Kim Gordon of Brunswick and Donna Jammerson of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Flavius J. Williams.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2007, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and/or Hospice of South Georgia. Ruth Taylor

Ruth Taylor, 97, of Sparks passed away July 25, 2007, at the Memorial Convalescent Center of Adel.

She was born on March 22, 1910, in Woodstock to the late James William and Winnie Sosby Wiley. She lived in Cook County most of her life. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of God faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas “Bud” Taylor.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, W.F. and Carol Taylor of Sparks; three daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Charles Taylor of Tifton, Edna and Bobby Raper, Ochlocknee, Fla., Lillian McClelland, Lenox; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jean Turner of Alma. She was also preceded in death by one son, James Huey Taylor; and two grandsons, Randy Raper and Mike Gaskins.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 27, 2007, at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Newbern officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Church Cemetery. Richard Lee Daniel, 66, of Nashville, died Tuesday at South Georgia Medical Center. The remains have been forwarded to the Follis & Sons Funeral Home in Frederickstown, Mo., for services and burial. — Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.



Jerry Hilton Knight

Jerry Hilton Knight, 58, of Douglasville, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2007. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 p.m. He will lie in state at the church from 1-2 p.m. before the funeral service which will be Saturday, July 28, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Sweetwater Baptist Church, Douglasville, with the Rev. Bryan Alexander, the Rev. Wayne Dawkins and Evangelist Tom Hayes officiating. Memorial service will be held Sunday, July 29, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church, Bainbridge, and he will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at Salem Baptist Church before the interment.
