Edna Barrow Lewis
Edna Barrow Lewis, 88, of Barwick passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, at her residence after a brief illness.
Born in Berrien County, she was the daughter of Ernest D. and Nora Norwood Barrow. She was a beautician and a member of the Barwick United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Kaye and Dan McIsaac of Albany, Beth and Wayne Godwin of LaGrange; nephew, Ernie and Judy Barrow of Barwick; nine grandchildren, April (Alan) Cook, Mandy (Bobby) Nolen, Michael (Lisa) Herndon, Joe (Stephanie) Herndon, David (Whitney) Herndon, Jim (Gina) McIsaac, Carolyn (Vance) VanBuskirk, Joey Barrow and Jessie Barrow; 20 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Jean Davis of Edison. She was preceded in death by her husband, G.C. Lewis; brother, Joe Barrow; and granddaughter, Nancy Beth Godwin; and grandson, Michael McIssac.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 21, at 2 p.m. at Barwick United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kirk Beckham officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the Barwick Community Center.
In lieu of floral tributes, those desiring may make contributions to her beloved Barwick United Methodist Church.

Steven Ray Elrod
Spc. Steven Ray Elrod, 20, of 5259 Heather St., died Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, in Baghdad, Iraq.
Steven was a graduate of Massey Hill Classical High School in 2005 and was a star athlete in basketball. He was a specialist in the U.S. Army with 18 months of service. He lived in Hope Mills, N.C., for seven years and worked at McDonald’s in Hope Mills for two years. He was loved by all and was godfather to a beautiful little girl, Kiley Thornall.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, in the chapel of Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service Saturday at the funeral home, followed by a fellowship at Fayetteville Christian Church, 4308 Rosehill Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Steven Ray Elrod Memorial Fund, c/o Michael S. Morin, 5259 Heather St., Hope Mills, N.C. 28348.
Steven is survived by his mother and stepfather, Karen E. and Michael S. Morin of the home; his father and stepmother, Denny and Susan Elrod of Mountain Home, Idaho; a sister, Kristen M. Elrod of the home; a brother, Scott Morin of the home; his maternal grandfather, Gene Brimmage of Hahira; his paternal grandparents, Robert T. and Mary A. Erma A. McDowell
Erma A. McDowell, 89, mother of Dianne English, passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at Smith Northview Hospital after a lengthily illness. She was born on Aug. 11, 1918, to the late Alma and Mamie Griffin Adams in Calhoun County. Mrs. Erma was Baptist by faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, James McDowell; son, Alma W. Hurst; and grandson, Darrell Hurst.
Survivors include her daughter, Dianne English of Valdosta; three sons and daughters-in-law, Millard and Delores Hurst, Milner, Lamar and Mary Ann Hurst, Jacksonville, Fla., Lewis and Marie Hurst, Boonefield, Miss.; eight grandchildren, Bobby Hurst, David Hurst, Carrie Hurst, William Hurst, Cindy Mills, Liz Spells, Kelley Hurst; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jerry Adams; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial following in Friendship Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.
