VALDOSTA —
Lawrence Brooks “L.B.” Moore, 90, of Adel, Ga., passed away Jan. 1, 2013, at the Memorial Convalescent Center following a short illness. He was born Jan. 2, 1922, in Cook County to the late Millard Fillmore and Mattie Jane Walker Moore. Mr. Moore lived most of his life in Cook County and was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church. He retired from General Telephone Company where he was a Central Office Engineer and he was an Army veteran of WWII.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eugenia Blye “Jean” Revell Moore.
Mr. Moore is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Nell R. Moore of Bessemer, Ala.; grandchildren, Rebecca and Jared Phillips of Harvest, Ala.; Jonathan and Kristie Moore of Ringold, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Brooks and Sophie Phillips of Harvest, Ala. and Kori, Kadyn and Kampbell Moore of Ringold, Ga.; sister-in-laws, Laura Moore of Adel, Mary Parker of Valdosta, Marie Buzbee of Woodville, Fla.; and a brother-in-law, Hardy Revell of Crawfordville, Fla.; Also numerous nieces and nephews along with his “Special Caregiver,” Betty Weeks of Adel.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Evergreen Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in Rountree Cemetery. Mr. Moore will lie in state at the church one hour before the time of service. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. Boone Funeral Home is serving the Moore family.
