Teresa Darlene Hooker

VALDOSTA — Teresa Darlene Hooker, 52, of Valdosta died on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 at the Langdale Hospice House following a short illness. She was born in Valdosta on May 25, 1960 and has been a lifelong resident of this area. She graduated from Lowndes High School with honors and attended Valdosta State University. She was a bookkeeper for many years for local businesses and CPA firms. She was an ardent animal lover and had many cats and her dog, Prissy, that she loved and cared for during her life. Teresa was of the Methodist faith and was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend and will be greatly missed by her loving family. Absent from the body and present with the Lord.

Survivors include her father, Turner Tillman Hooker; a sister, Kaye Oliver of Roswell, Ga.; a niece, Cathy McLaughlin and her husband, Evan of Milton, Ga.; a great-niece, Keller McLaughlin and great-nephews, Hynds, Miller, and Morgan McLaughlin; devoted friend and neighbors, Bob and Tid Rowell; special cousins Mark Rogers and Michael Carroll and other special cousins, aunts, uncles and other family members. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mabel Shope Hooker; a step-mother, Carolyn Castles Hooker; brother-in-law, Charles Morgan Oliver; a nephew, Charles Eugene Oliver II; a great-nephew, Evan Coulter McLaughlin, Jr.; maternal grandparents, Garrett and Bertha Shope and paternal grandparents, Simeon and Minnie Bailey Hooker.

Services for Teresa Hooker will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Evan McLaughlin officiating. The burial will follow in the Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia Langdale Hospice House 2263 Pineview Drive Valdosta, GA. 31601.
