VALDOSTA —
Eula Lane Copeland went to be with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 18, 2013. Eula was a radiant Christian and loving example to her family, church, community and friends.
Eula was born on Jan. 25, 1930, to Owen and Mary Bryant in Hahira, Ga. She was educated in the Lowndes County School System. Eula was united in marriage to the Rev. Willie C. Lane Sr. At his death, they had been married 25 years. She later married Lamar Copeland.
She is survived by daughters, Eleanor Walker, Edith Ross, Ouida Lane, Mary Turner (James) and Mary Rice; sons, Willie (Gail) Lane Jr. and Robert Copeland; two grandchildren she reared; Tia (Danny) Heard and Crystal Jackson; two sisters, Bessie Camion and Nettie Reeves; 23 loving grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Rolina Jackson and Ouida Woodruff. In addition, she is survived by a close family of nieces, nephews, cousins and many sorrowing friends.
Eula’s greatest achievement was her unwavering loyalty and faith in God. Eula’s life was one of service to her community and fellow man. In addition to constantly assisting others in various capacities, she fed the homeless and needy for 17 years at Samantha’s Place in Hahira, Ga. She served on a broad spectrum of boards throughout Lowndes County. Throughout her life, she touched the lives of many. Her goal was to make a positive impact. Those who knew, loved, or just met her in passing, knew she was genuine. She possessed the exceptional ability to make a difference in the quality of life for each one. With nearly 100 close family members, she leaves each one with the feeling of being “The Special One.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a daughter, Angela Lane Newton; grandsons, Kevin Lane and Troy Jackson; a sister, Mary Simmons; and brother, Wallace Bryant.
Homegoing celebration will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Hahira,. The body will lie in state at the church two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
