Elias (Skeeter Hawk) Rizer age 78, was born Nov. 12, 1934 in Valdosta, Ga. to the late Mr. Hayes Rizer and the late Mrs. Sallie Mae McCormick Rizer. He received his education at the River Hill School in Lowndes County. Elias was employed with the City of Valdosta as a sanitation worker and retired in 1997 after 30 years of faithful service. He was known throughout the community as (Skeeter Hawk) and could make you laugh at some of the things he would say and do. He loved The McCormick family in the Jones Community and could name the descendants of Caesar and Adeline McCormick. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Archie (Sarah) McCormick; his parents Hayes (Sallie Mae McCormick) Rizer, his sisters, Mattie Lou Porter, Ella Jean Rizer, Lizzie Rizer and Annabel Rizer.
Elias is survived by is niece, Lena (Roderick) Riser Stafford; his nephews, Willis Hayes Rizer, John Troy (Helen) Lissimore, Albert Porter, Matthew Riser and Pastor Tim (Valerie) Riser. His great-nieces, Barbara, Leslie, Tonya, Robin, Shanekia, Akeemya, Satchyell and Andrea. His great nephews, James Jr., John Jr., Johnny Jr., Andre, Jason, Brandon, Joquan, Tim Jr., Darren, Matthew Jr., Joe; and a host of great-great nieces and nephews. We also acknowledge his special friend and companion, Mrs. Alma Wade. Special thank you to the Heritage Healthcare at Holly Hill and Dr. Larry Smith.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Harrington Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Tim Riser will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Repast will be held at The House of God Church, located at 606 West Adair Street. — Harrington Funeral Home.
