Wayne Thornton, 63, of Valdosta, passed away at his home on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013. He has gone home to be with his first love, Linda C. Thornton.
He was born April 2, 1949 in Valdosta, a son of the late Marcus and Lois Hughes Thornton. Mr. Thornton was a hard working Christian man, loved the Lord and his family. He enjoyed fishing, singing and picking.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Thornton of Quitman; two daughters and one son-in-law, Tammy J. and James Norris, and Connie S. Lehman; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. and Annette Thornton, all of Valdosta; seven grandchildren, Lundy Marshall, Kortny Marshall, Joshua D. Lehman, Justin R. Thornton, Cole Thornton, Tara C. Gill, Jordan Lehman and Jessie Lehman; one great-grandchild, Chasen B. Ricks; his sis, Diane Brantley of Valdosta; two step-daughters, Casey and husband Curtis Ackridge and Andrea Chandler.
The funeral service for Mr. Thornton will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at the Chapel of McLane Lakewood Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Corinth Cemetery.
