Leslie Patrick

-- — Mr. Leslie Patrick, 83 of Quitman passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta. Mr. Patrick was born March 15, 1929 to the late Harmon and Connie Lee Bowen Patrick. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1950 with a degree in Agricultural Engineering. Mr. Patrick came to Cuthbert to teach in the Farmers Veterans Program, where he met his wife, Clara of 61 years. They were married in 1951. He was a founder and board member of Westbrook School in Dixie, Ga. Mr. Patrick was a farmer and a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for over 30 years and Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. The main things in his life were his God, Family, and Church. Survivors include his wife, Clara Overby Patrick of Quitman; one daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Dennis Carlton of Quitman; one son, Mike Patrick of Tifton; two granddaughters, Shelby and Brad Mashburn, and Ashley Elizabeth Carlton; two brothers and sister-in-law, Willie Mack and Nelda Patrick of Fitzgerald, and Waymon Lee Patrick of Quitman.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Philadelphia Baptist Church with the Rev. Klay Luke, the Rev. Thilmon Vonier, the Rev. Earl Justice, the Rev. John Page, and the Rev. Douglas Reddick officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends this evening from 6-8 p.m. at Maxwell-Miller Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Philadelphia Baptist Church or to the Dixie Community Center.
