Lena Belle Parrish Resta

VALDOSTA — Mrs. Lena Belle Parrish Resta, 87, of Adel, passed away Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Cook Medical Center. She was born Feb. 13, 1925, in Berrien County to the late Alvin Jones Parrish and Mattie Mae Griffis Parrish. Mrs. Resta met her husband of 67 years, Joseph Richard Resta Sr., on a blind date and were married on Jan. 20, 1945. They lived in Greenwood, Miss., during his military service, then moved to New York for 16 years before settling in Ft. Myers, Fla. during retirement. They moved to Cook County 13 years ago. She was a homemaker and of the Catholic faith.

Mrs. Resta is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Marsha Resta of La Belle, Fla., Bobby and Jan Resta of Adel, Barry and Ellen Resta of Adel; seven grandchildren, Sean and Annie Resta of Adel, Curtis and Anna Resta of San Antonio, Texas, Andy and Ginger Resta of Dallas, Texas, Clint and Karlene Resta of Dallas, Texas, Melissa and Daniel Lynch of La Belle, Fla., Chad Resta of Valdosta, Ga., and Amanda and James Ray of Adel; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Carlton and Jeanette Parrish of Thomasville, Ga.; a sister and brother-in-law, Delores and John Mainor of Adel.  

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Resta was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Richard Resta Sr.; four brothers, Lloyd Woodell Parrish, Paul Laverne Parrish, Carey Irman Parrish, and Randall Thomas Parrish; and two sisters, Dorothy L. Pilcher and Myrtle P. Metts.

The Resta family will receive friends Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel.

Funeral service will take place Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Boone Funeral Home with the Rev. James R. Pilcher and the Rev. Ted Graham officiating.

Interment will follow in Sylvester Cemetery.
