Hilda Laverne Shiver

VALDOSTA — Hilda Laverne Shiver, 83, of Valdosta died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at Langdale Hospice House. She was born on March 25, 1929 in Valdosta to the late Henry, Jr. and Gladys Peace Hall. Mrs. Shiver was a member of the Redland Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World. She was a homemaker and loved to work in her yard. She especially loved her fruit orchard and sharing grapes, oranges and blackberries with others. Mrs. Shiver loved her family and enjoyed traveling and spending time with them. She loved music and especially loved to hear Elvis Presley sing. Mrs. Shiver loved dancing and could out dance any of her grandchildren and loved playing hide and seek with her great grandchildren. She was married to George Shiver for 50 years at the time of his death on April 19, 1998.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, George William and Dawn Shiver, Evelyn and Ed Lund, Gayle and Wayne Dawkins, Donny and Ginger Shiver, all of Valdosta; grandchildren, Nichole and John Purvis, Spencer and Heather Dawkins, Jennifer and Brian Gay, Kirk and Cammie Lund, Ivie and Dustin Rozier, Ed and Lacey Shiver, Julie and Travis Roberts, Sarah and Jason Parker; great-grandchildren, Conner and Eden Purvis, Logan and Alden Dawkins, Mackenzie and Griffin Gay, Ellison and Emmerson Shiver, Alana and Greyson Lund, Dawkins and Mollie Parker, Reid Roberts; three sisters-in-law, Lounette Hall, Jeanette Hall, Henrietta Shiver, all of Valdosta; caregivers, Dean Clement and Mary Baker. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur Hall, Henry Hall, Jr.; and a sister, Carolyn Hall.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at Mount Zion Cemetery with the Rev. Jay Watkins, the Rev. Brian Gay and Mr. Wayne Dawkins officiating.
