Jacksonville, Fla. — Sizemore Robert Jackson, 76 of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Nashville, Ga., passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, March 18, 2010, surrounded by his family.

He was born Sept. 9, 1933 in Berrien County, Ga. He graduated from Nashville High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War in Japan. After returning home, he served in the Florida Air National Guard until he retired in 1988 as a lieutenant colonel. In 1957, he married the love of his life, Claudia Laynette McCorkle. He attended Jones College and graduated in 1971 with Business Administration degree.

He is survived by his wife, Laynette Sizemore; one brother, Joe Sizemore (Diane). Robert is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Powell (Fred) and Melinda Morris (Bob). He had four grandchildren, Brandon Sizemore, Brittney Morris, Brean Powell and Bryce Morris. He served on the board  for the Samuel C. Taylor Foundation. Service to God and church was the main focus of his life. He attended the Paxon Church of Christ and served as a Deacon and Elder, and remained an active and beloved member until his death. It is said that in his marriage, his home, his  family, his career, and in his relationships with his fellow man, Robert walked in the pathways of God.

The family will receive friends this evening, March 21, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Town and Country Funeral Home, Jacksonville, Fla. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 22, 2010 at Town and Country Funeral Home, Jacksonville, Fla.
