Mr. Alfonso Foster Sr., 84, passed this life Sunday, March 14, 2010 at his residence in Naylor, Ga. He was born July 30, 1925 in Lanier County to the late Rev. Arnett Foster, Sr. and the late Mrs. Dollie Woods Foster.
On January 27, 1951, Mr. Foster married the former Ida Lee Benjamin of Lanier County. To this union, six children were born.
Mr. Foster was a member of the Church of Christ of Lakeland, Ga.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Versie Lee Raymond; three brothers, Aaron Foster, Arnett Foster Jr., and Joseph Foster; and one sister-in-law, Eloise Foster.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ida Lee Foster; five sons, Alfonso Foster Jr. (Cynthia) of Woodstock, Ga., Chester Lee Foster (Joan) of Tallahassee, Fla., Anthony Troy Foster (Stacey) of Valdosta, Ga., Benjamin Michael Foster (Marie) of Naylor, Ga., and Clyde Lee Foster (Reconda) of Naylor, Ga.; one daughter, Diane Foster Mazyck of Laurel, MD.; three brothers, Ellis Foster, Michael Foster, and John Foster; one sister, Sharon Harris (Larry); grandchildren, Ashley Jeanine Foster, Candance Nicole Foster, Justin Cory Foster, Garrett Owens, Nicky Nicole McEady, Marie Yarby, Michael Leighton Foster, Morgan Kelley Foster, Michael Santana Foster, Jalmiel Brandon Foster, Alexandria Foster, Taylor Elizabeth Foster, Kristen Brinkley, London Montell Boone, Clyde Lee Foster Jr., Taylor Maree Foster, and Dawson LeBron Foster; great grandchildren, JaMeiah Foster, Jeremiah Troy Foster, Summer LaNay Owens, Jadyn McEady, Jaylah McEady, Evan Lieghton Miley, and Torrie Miley Jr., and a host of relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held today, Saturday, March 20, 2010, 4 p.m., at Union Cathedral, in Valdosta. Dr. Reginald Benjamin will be officiating. Interment will follow at Charles Knight Cemetery in Lakeland, Ga. — Godfrey Funeral Home, LLC.
