Charles Roscoe “Chuck” Everitt Jr.

VALDOSTA — Charles Roscoe “Chuck” Everitt Jr., USAF MSgt. (Ret.), 66, of Valdosta, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at South Georgia Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 8, 1946, in Trenton, N.J., a son of the late Charles Roscoe and Marjorie A. Pilla Everitt. Chuck honorably served in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years, was stationed throughout Europe and the United States, and retired in 1988 at Moody Air Force Base. Following his retirement, he worked at SAFT, then as a Case and Center Manager with Coastal Plains EOA. For many years, he was employed as the Executive Director of Lanier Family Connections, Lakeland.

He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Father Kennedy Council, Kairos Prison Ministry and the Cursillo Movement. “Opa” was a proud grandfather, never missing one of his granddaughter’s events or competitions, and was a supporter of the Lowndes High Georgia Bridgemen and a Viking fan.

He is survived by his wife, Hanna Everitt; two daughters, Joni Everitt and Michelle R.B. Everitt; his granddaughter and “grandson,” Alexis Michelle Everitt and Shawn Dylan Luke; his mother-in-law, Katharina Kugel, all of Valdosta; one brother, Paul Everitt and partner Donald Aronson; two sisters, Lynn and husband John Slezak III and Lorraine Everitt; nieces and nephews, Samantha Lynn and Bill Prout, Sabrina Lynn and Mike Smith, Craig Everitt-Seamen and fiancé Heather, John Charles Slezak and Michael Patrick Slezak; two great-nieces, Aubrey and Kailey Prout; three aunts, Grace and husband Don Callery, Roseanne Weirs and         Elvira Pilla, all of New Jersey; and numerous cousins.

The Funeral Mass for Mr. Everitt will be held at 12:10 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with the Rev. Christopher Ortega officiating.
