Willard V. Lee

-- — Mr. Willard V. Lee, 88, of Waycross died Tuesday morning, August 21, 2012 at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House. He was born in Ware County to the late Virgil V. Lee and Cora Altman Lee. Mr. Lee left Waycross in 1965 and lived the majority of his life in Valdosta, before moving to Jesup and most recently back to Waycross. He retired in 1986 from South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta as the Director of Plant Operations after 18 years of service. Before leaving Waycross in 1965, Mr. Lee was a member of Hebardville Baptist Church. He was also a member of Altamaha Baptist Church in Jesup and Northside Baptist Church in Valdosta.

Mr. Lee served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Navy Sea Bees and served in the Southern Pacific. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Kathryn Jeanette Crosby Lee, his second wife, Bonnie Pate Lee, a son, Willard V. “Butch” Lee, Jr., and a sister, Dorothy Castile.

Mr. Lee is survived by four children, Sandra Stephenson and her husband Tommy of Valdosta, Brenda Madray and her husband Larry of Jesup, Steve Lee and his wife Becky of Vidalia, Glenn Lee and his wife Jane of Loganville, his grandchildren, Amy Aguirre, Joe Stephenson, Shellie Martin, Tamara Shelton, Krissy Hamilton, Melissa Hickman, Paige Lee, ten great grandchildren, two sisters, Elwanda Schell of Fitzgerald, Va. Braddock of Waycross, a brother, Lamar Lee of Georgetown, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service was held Friday in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Kettle Creek Cemetery.
