-- — Helen Mitchell Bentley, age 92, passed away March 21, 2012 at her home in Monticello, Fla.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 24, 2012, at 10 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church, 325 W. Walnut Street, Monticello, Florida 32344.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., this evening, March 23, 2012, in the Life Center Enrichment building at the First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, attn: Ashley Braswell, 323 Pine Ave., Albany, GA 31707 or Big Bend Hospice, 1723-1 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, Florida 32308-5428. Interment will follow the service at Roseland cemetery.

Mrs. Bentley was a native of Thomasville, Ga. and had lived in Decatur, Ga. before moving to Monticello in 1951.

She was Co-owner/operator of Bentley Nursery and volunteered at the Chamber of Commerce. She was a charter member of the Jefferson County Club and Florida Nursery Growers, Big Bend Chapter.

Mrs. Bentley is survived by one son Wade G. Bentley of Monticello; two daughters, Helen (Tim) Braswell of Monticello and Sally (Allen) Woods of Valdosta; one daughter-in-law Carolyn Bentley Cheshire of Monticello. Mrs. Bentley was preceded in death by her husband Walter Wallace Bentley, Sr. and son Walter Wallace Bentley, Jr.
