VALDOSTA —
Barbara Hitchner, 82, of Valdosta, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on April 19, 1930, in Ashville, N.C. She loved to go offshore fishing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bayard Allen Hitchner Sr.; mother, Anna R. Muckle; and a son-in-law, Fred Hartje.
Her survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Philip and Barbara Hitchner of Valdosta; Bayard Allen Hitchner Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughters and sons-in-law, Roxanne and William Hornblower of Palm Harbor, Fla.; Bonnie and Steve Hitchner of Port St. John, Fla.; Margaret Alice Hartje of Port St. John, Fla.; Alane Hitchner of Winterhaven, Fla.; Barbara Lea and Jay Hancock of Ellsonborough, N.J.; sister, Georgina Regner of Ellsonborough, N.J.; sister-in-law, Eleanor Davis of New Jersey; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces, and nephews; and several extended family members.
Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, March 22, 2013, in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla. No formal visitation will be held at the funeral home.
