VALDOSTA —
Robert S. Pinkston, 86, of Valdosta, departed this world on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Langdale Hospice House.
He was born March 18, 1926, in Valdosta, a son of the late John William “J.W.” Pinkston Jr. and Fannie Lou Smith Pinkston. He graduated from Valdosta High School and honorably served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Pinkston was a Commercial Real Estate Agent with The Herndon Co. for many years. Mr. Pinkston was a member of First United Methodist Church, and had been a member of the Singing Americans. He was a life member and Past Exalted Ruler of Valdosta Elks Lodge No. 728, and Past State Secretary of the Georgia Elks Association. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, and loved camping and gardening.
His wife of 67 years, Mary C. Pinkston, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Jimmy LeFiles; one son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Linda Pinkston; one son-in-law, Gerald Godair, all of Valdosta; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, William and Jane Pinkston of Atlanta.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Emily Godair; a half-brother, Jeter Pinkston; and a half-sister, Emily Pinkston.
Funeral service for Mr. Pinkston will be held at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Moon officiating. Private interment will take place in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
