Ellis Woods Sr.

-- — Mr. Ellis Woods Sr. was born on January 28, 1922 to the late Morris and Mary Brown and was later adopted by his grandmother the late Rebecca Woods and Collin Woods. He confesses Christ at an early age he was a good Christian man. He retired from Owen-Illinois as an operator. He was a Masonic and member of amvets, Sons of Allen and was president of Pallbearer Lodge #40. He also was a member of Male  choir, Potemp of the Steward Board and Veteran in the United States Army in World War I.    

He was preceded in death by his first wife Simmie Woods, son Ronald Woods, sister Sally Brown, two brothers, Moses Davis and James Hubert, grandparents Morris and Mary Brown, step-mother Ruby Brown, son-in-law Frank Copeland, Jr., brother-in-law Johnnie Sermon and two sisters-in-law Hazel Davis and Margaret Woods.He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving wife Julia Woods; three sons, Ellis Jr. and family, Robert (Kathy) Woods, and Samuel Woods; three daughters, Mary Pitts (Theotis), Mary Copeland and Harriett Woods; three extended daughters and son, Clara Singletary, Rosie Wooten (Lawrence), and William Haynes (Ann Ward); two sisters Dorothy Robertson and Carrie Cobbs; one brother Robert Woods; two sisters-in-law Fannie Harper (James) and Arizona Sermons; 12 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 11:00 A. M. from the sanctuary of St. Timothy A. M. E. Church, Rev. Nathaniel Brown is the pastor and will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pallbearer Cemetery.   _ Scott And Roberts Mortuary, Inc.
