VALDOSTA —
Mrs. Johnnie Faye Roe Vest, 70, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta.
Mrs. Vest was born June 29, 1942, in Homerville to the late Johnny Edward Roe and Rosa Andrews Roe. She was a member of Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church, the Shiloh Church Prayer Band, the Homerville Exchange Club and had worked as manager of the Quick Change in Homerville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Windell “Slim” Vest; four sisters, Ava Nell Touchton, Emma Lee Dyal, Minnie Lee Futch, Sara Frances Gilbert; one brother, Charles Roe; one nephew, Franklin Touchton.
Survivors are one brother, Otis Roe, Houston, Texas; 20 nieces and nephews, Patricia Peacock, Plant City, Fla., Ronald Dyal, Lakeland, Fla., Glenda Balance, Jimmy Futch, both of Homerville, Norma Jean Wilson, Waycross, Deborah Davis, David Futch, both of Homerville, Rose Hickox, George Gilbert, Elizabeth Thrift, James Gilbert, all of Waycross, Wanda Keene, Macon, Jim Roe, Margaret Ann Barrett, Vickie McGinnis, Betty Terry, John Roe, Sam Roe, Cindy Roe, Dena Ham and Jennifer Roe, all of Texas; several great nieces and nephews, special great-great niece, Bethany Touchton; special great-great nephew, Joshua Touchton; and several other relatives.
Services for Mrs. Vest will be held Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church.
Interment will be in the North Cemetery, DuPont, Ga.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at Roundtree Funeral Home. Mrs. Vest will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services.
