VALDOSTA —
Frances Griner Miley, 94, of Hahira passed away on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born in Nashville on March 30, 1918 to the late Robert Bruce and Mary Alice Hasty Griner. Frances was a devoted wife and mother. Mrs. Miley was an active member of the Hahira First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir until her health began to fail. She loved working in her yard and gardening. Mrs. Miley was a retired florist who loved making floral arrangements and had a natural talent for floral design. Mrs. Miley worked for Martin Flower Shop, owned and operated Miley Floral in Hahira in the 1970’s and then later worked for Zant’s Flower Shop in Valdosta. She was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for family and friends.
Survivors include her four daughters and three sons-in-law, Dianne and Tom Felts of Gainesville, Fla., Marilyn M. Brady of Hahira, Susan and Jack Prescott of Lynn Haven, Fla., Kathy and Danny Beverly of Hahira; her son, Woody Miley of Hahira; two sisters, Fairy Powell of Tallahassee, Fla. and Sarah Norman of Clewiston, Fla.; her grandchildren, Lisa (Joey) Herring of Lake Park, Brink Prescott of Panama City Beach, Fla., Marti (Jerry) Redding of Hahira, Ryan (Mikki) Prescott of Austin, Texas, Julie (Tom) Nguyen of Atlanta, Bradley (Gina) Beverly of Phoenix, Ariz., Lea Miley, Trey Miley both of Valdosta, Charles (Lillie) Powell of Greensboro, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Matt Jones, Sam Herring, Landon Herring, Joley Herring, Layne Prescott, Josh Redding, Jamie Redding, Jeremy Redding, Holly Lattin, Sawyer Prescott, Cooper Prescott, Mason James Beverly, Hannah Grayce Miller; nine great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Eugene Woodrow Miley, two sisters, Dorothy Ward Pritchett and Carmen Stone, three brothers, Robert Griner, James Griner, Joe Ward, and a great-grandchild, Lucas Jett Beverly.
The family would like to thank Dr. Brian Griner and the nursing staff of 4-West at South Georgia Medical Center for their wonderful care and support they gave to us.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at Friendship Cemetery with the Rev. David Gordon officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 -11 a.m. at the Martin/McLane Funeral Home, 401 S. Church St., Hahira, GA 31632.
