Mr. Lee Roy Wilcox Jr., 83, of Quitman passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Wilcox was born April 26, 1929 to the late Lee Roy and Amanda Watkins Wilcox, Sr. He was retired with the United States Marines as Master Gunnery Sgt. and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine Wilcox of Quitman; two sons and daughter in law, Roy and Lynn Wilcox, III of Conyers, and Kenneth Lee Wilcox of Maryville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Jeremy Wilcox, Matthew Wilcox, Erin Hansen, Emily Tabb, and Katie Wilcox; one sister, Mariella Anderson of Thomasville.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Andy Daughtry and Rev. Chris Hilliard officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with full military rites. The family will be receiving friends Sunday evening at the First Baptist Church from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Baptist Children's Home through the First Baptist Church in Quitman.
