Betty Jean Terrell

-- — Betty Jean Terrell, 81, of Valdosta, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2012, at Langdale Hospice House following a lengthy illness. She was born Feb. 13, 1931 in Moultrie, Ga., a daughter of the late David Franklin and Mattie Rutland Barfield. She was a member of the Azalea City Church of God.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James and Linda Terrell, Valdosta; five grandchildren; Jamie and Kelly Terrell, Valdosta; Rocky Terrell, Valdosta; Samantha and Eric Travis, Chattanooga, Tenn.; Taylor Rowan, Valdosta; Lacy Harrell, Statenville; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters-in-law, Gwen Barfield, Valdosta; Juana Barfield, Lake Park; Lillian Barfield, Statenville; Pearl Barfield, Sebring, Fla.; two brothers-in-law, Pafford Carter, Valdosta; and Jack Terrell, Greencove, Fla.; Ms. Terrell was predeceased by her parents, three sisters; Mary Carter, Bobbie Schmidt, Helen Barfield, and five brothers, Wayne Barfield, Sonny Barfield, Jack Barfield, Junior Barfield, and Jimmy Barfield.  

Funeral services for Ms. Terrell will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012, in the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Raymond Gabbard officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Hill Cemetery in Brooks County.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
