VALDOSTA —
Samuel Bradley Knight, Jr., 64, of Valdosta, loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012 at his Valdosta residence. Sam was born in Tampa, Fla. on Nov. 8, 1948. He graduated from H.B. Plant High School in 1966. He attended Gordon Military College. He served in the United States Navy.
Mr. Knight was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Knight and Gladys Knight, and brother Daniel Knight.
Survivors include his two children Danny Knight (Brooke) and Jessica Knight along with their mother Barbara Knight; grandson Tyler Mixer, brother Huey Knight, sister Cynthia Chytil (Chris); niece Heather Knight; nephew Jacob Chytil; maternal aunts Wilma Hensel, Elda Mangan (Jimmy); uncle Edward Hensel, numerous cousins and friends.
In 1988, he and his family moved to Valdosta, Ga. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. He was gregarious with a great sense of humor and never met a stranger. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and friends, and cheering on the FLORIDA GATORS. Over the past few years, the biggest joy of his life was his grandson, Tyler.
The family will receive visitors between 9-11 a.m. on Nov. 23, 2012 at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Ave, Tampa, Fla.
A graveside funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 23, 2012 at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Veterans Health Care System, at www.northflorida.va.gov.
