VALDOSTA —
Dr. Sybil C. Bennett, 102, of Valdosta, died Sunday, July 29, 2012, at the Oak Brook in LaBelle, Fla. She was born in Jasper, Fla., on July 11, 1910, and was the daughter of the late Dr. J.H. and Martha Burnett Corbett. Dr. Bennett was a former medical doctor, the president of the Garden Club of Georgia and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her three nephews, Frank Tyndall and Dr. Harry C. Tyndall, both of Atlanta, and Paul Parker of Houston, Texas; two nieces, Beverly Keiser of Sarasota, Fla., and Martha Joe Gross of Immokalee, Fla.. She is also survived by a number of grand nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Dr. Bennett was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Van Bennett; and a sister, Pauline Parker.
A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta with the Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, Fla., at noon. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
