Roy Lee Taylor

VALDOSTA — Roy Lee Taylor, 66, of Valdosta died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on April 26, 1946 in Waycross to Allie Mildred Melton Taylor and the late Elvin Lee Taylor. Mr. Taylor was retired as a Unit Manager with the Georgia Department of Corrections after 34 years of service and a member of the Northway Community Church. He was a hard working dedicated husband and father who never failed to provide for his family. Mr. Taylor loved to fish and play with his great granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Jean Taylor of Valdosta; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dudley and Carla Taylor of Quitman, Derrick Taylor of Valdosta; his grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Coy and Amanda Taylor of Echols County; three granddaughters and a grandson-in-law, Danielle and Brian Gibbs of Ray City, Carter Schroer and Camille Schroer both of Quitman; great-granddaughter, Reagan Leigh Taylor (His Scooter) of Echols County; his mother, Allie Mildred Taylor of Douglas; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Bobby Taylor, Billy and Nell Taylor all of Douglas, Denny and Beauletha Taylor of West Green; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Gail and J.T. Troup of Nicholls, Debbie and Howard Carter, Pamela and Mike Wells all of Douglas; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Elvin Lee Taylor, two brothers, Ronnie Taylor and James Taylor, two sisters, Anne Tanner and Susie Kinsey and sister in law, Bonnie Taylor.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Victor Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
