VALDOSTA —
Hubert C. Wilson Sr., 78, of Quitman, passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born Nov. 1, 1934, to the late Herman Carroll Wilson and Gussie Rachel Thompson. Mr. Wilson retired with the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer during the Vietnam and was a member of the Quitman United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nadine Wilson of Quitman; one son, Hubert "Bert" C. Wilson, Jr. of Quitman; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheryl and Wyatt Haney of Quitman, and Carol and Donald Thompson of Quitman; five grandchildren, Lee Haney, Lucas Haney, Hannah and Adam Penn, Alex Thompson, and Peyton Lee Wilson; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Penn and Molly Penn; three sisters, Bobbie Harris of Callahan, Fla., Betty Scott of Lyons, Ga.., and JoAnn Warren of Vidalia, Ga..; many nieces and nephews. Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Harold Wilson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday Dec. 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Quitman United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Register, the Rev. Jay Roberson, and the Rev. Mike Brown officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Rosewood Cemetery in Barwick with full military rites.
