VALDOSTA —
Muriel Downs of Valdosta, formerly of Miami, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Brooks County Hospital.
She was born Aug. 16, 1920, in Akron, Ohio to the late William Robinson and Pheobe Anne (Young) Robinson. Muriel enjoyed doing crafts and was an active member of Gateway Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clisby Downs; and a son, Vernon Downs.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Hugh and Joyce Downs, Valdosta; seven grandchildren, Kelly Arnold (Glenn), Sandy Hawley (Neil), Belinda Downs, James Downs (Stephanie), Herb Mason (Kathryn), Cindy Mason, and Scott Mason (Rhonda); 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Hilda Lipscomb, Valdosta, Annie Parrish, Valdosta.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in New Bethel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 14 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
