William T. “Billy” Maye of Newberry, Fla. died Friday, July 27, 2012 in Gainesville, FL. He was 77. Born in Tifton, GA, he moved from Georgia with Southern Bell more than 50 years ago, to Orlando, then settling his family at home in Newberry about 45 years ago. He retired from Southern Bell after 30 years of service. One of his favorite things to do was to collect and restore antique John Deere tractors. He was a fun loving Christian man who would help anyone who needed it.
He is survived by his loving wife Jeanette Redding Maye and their son Karle A. “Tony” Maye and his wife Betty; brother Lavell Maye; sisters Frances Allen and Faye Bryan; Brother-in-law Herman Redding and his wife Betty; and his beloved dog, “Dolly.”
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Milam Funeral Home Newberry Chapel, with the family receiving friends at 10:00 AM, one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Jonesville Cemetery.
