Randall Dane Woodruff Sr.

VALDOSTA — Randall Dane Woodruff Sr., 66, of Valdosta, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta after a brief illness. He was born in Valdosta, and grew up in Mayday before moving back to Valdosta to attend Valdosta State College (now VSU). Following college, he married his childhood sweetheart, the former Hellen Marie Moore, and they were married for 45 years, prior to her death in 2009. Mr. Woodruff’s career was in footwear as a Regional Sales Manager responsible for developing and managing territories throughout the Southeast. During his career tenure, he worked for Georgia Boot, Double HH, Justin, Golden Retriever and Carolina Boot Company. Mr. Woodruff was instrumental to Executive Management by consulting with product development and distribution that included numerous top selling styles envisioned exclusively by Mr. Woodruff, giving him industry wide recognition. Mr. Woodruff was a member of the Bemiss Road Baptist Church for over 40 years.

Survivors include his two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dane Woodruff of Orlando, Fla., Michael and Robyn Woodruff of Valdosta; three grandchildren, Blake Woodruff, Jarred Woodruff and Brooklyn Woodruff, all of Valdosta; his mother, Virginia Woodruff of Mayday; sister, Julianna Woodruff and Vijay Saigal of Shreveport, La.; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Catherine Strickland of Baxley and Norman and Carol Strickland, of Mayday; and a very special friend Theresa Mathis.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hellen; his father, Bill Woodruff; brother, Bobby Woodruff; and half-brother, Maurice Woodruff.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., today, Dec. 19, 2012, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Danny Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery in Echols County.
