Mary Lou White Landis

VALDOSTA — Mary Lou White Landis, 64, of Lake Park, died Sunday, June 17, 2012, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. She was born in Medina, N.Y., on Aug. 28, 1947, to the late Clifford B. and Eleanor Lord White and had lived in Lowndes County for the past 31 years. Mrs. Landis was affiliated with the Lake Park United Methodist Church and worked as a substitute teacher with the Lowndes County Schools. She enjoyed reading, cooking and helping her family and friends. Mrs. Landis was an organ donor of which her family is very proud, and loved taking care of her children and grandchildren. She loved being a band mom for the Lowndes High School Georgia Bridgemen and was known to the students as “Momma Landis.” She was a friend to all who had a need.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. W. Ron Landis of Lake Park; her four children and their spouses, Amanda Landis-Hanna and Jeremy Hanna of Fairfax, Va.., Cliff Landis and his partners, Adam Albrite and Jeremy Bright of Decatur, Julie Horton and Roger Horton of Lake Park, Charlene Johnson and Ralph Johnson of Corbin, Ky. She had six grandchildren, Lily Hanna, Savannah Horton, Drew Horton, Connor Horton, Victoria Johnson and Isabella Johnson. She is survived her sister, Judy Naramore; two nephews, Scott Naramore and Craig Naramore, all of Rochester, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Cheryl White.

Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 21, 2012, in the chapel of McLane Lakewood Funeral Home with the Rev. John Akers officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home, 3119 W. Marion Ave., Lake Park, GA 31636.
