He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Morgan Harp; his two sons, S.E. (Chip) Harp, Jr. (daughter-in-law, Lisa Chauncey Harp); and W. David Harp (daughter-in-law, Tina McGee Harp); and sister, Diane Harp Turner (brother-in-law, A. Rex Turner, Jr.). He was blessed with six grandchildren, (William Harp, Folsom Harp, Haley Harp, Cannon Harp, Andrew Harp and Grace Margaret Harp); a niece, (Lee Ann Turner Senkbeil, husband Paul, children Mia and Jay); and nephews, (A.R. Born in Columbus, Ga. to William Calvin and Melba Martin Harp, he moved to Albany when he was young, attending Albany schools, graduating from Albany High in 1961. He was a letterman and starter on the Albany High State Championship Football Team of 1959 and was recruited by Coach Shug Jordan to play at Auburn, where he attended after graduation. However, after a short stint at Auburn he returned home to marry and start a family, remaining in South Georgia to raise his two boys before eventually moving West to continue his career.
A very accomplished sales professional and manager, he won multiple and regional sales awards with various companies. He worked in management in San Francisco and Los Angeles, before returning home to Georgia, completing his career with Bellsouth before retiring to help care for his mother in Albany. In his spare time he enjoyed fresh water fishing and watching baseball and football.
The family wishes to recognize the caring people associated with Hospice in Albany, especially the staff at the Willson Hospice House, who did so much to make his last days easier for him and his family.
Funeral service will be held today, March 19, 2013 at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Home of Albany with the family receiving visitors there at 1 p.m. followed by a service at 2 p.m. Service will be held by Pastor Bobby Harrell of First Baptist Church Leesburg where Stan was a member.
