Mary Catherine Stokes Orr

--- — Mary Catherine Stokes Orr, age 58, departed this life at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 after her battle with cancer.

Mary Catherine Stokes Orr began working on Moody Force Base in 1973 as an ID card checker.  She then worked as a lead cashier, supply clerk, manager and then the ACC Stock floor manager and funds manager.  In 2008, Mary was awarded “Air Combat Command Professional Provider Civilian of the Year”. She ultimately became the Resource Manager with the 23rd Logistics Readiness Squadron. She remained in this position until she retired this year.

Mary Stokes Orr is survived by her hero and fiancé: Dr. Joseph Brown; her mother: Mary Tehart Stokes; two sons: Rozell Antonio Orr, Sr. (Caterina) and Allen Orr, Jr.; one sister: Minnie Jewel Hankins (Freddie, Sr.); three grandchildren: Rozell Antonio Orr, Jr., Jada Noele Orr, and Justice McHellen Orr; her sisters-in-law: Hilda Faye Orr, Shirley Orr, and Arrie Johnson; her best friends: Edna Chandler, Shirley Wynn, Kathy Daniels, and Yolanda Johnson; her godson: Rashad Dallas and his mother: Jackie Willis; her ex-husband and friend: Allen Orr, Sr.; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

 Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., from the sanctuary of Crossing Jordan Baptist Church, 1401 Cypress Street, Valdosta, GA.  Dr. Ronnie Mathis is pastor and Pastor Timothy Riser will officiate.  A private burial will  follow after the service.  Public visitation will be today from 10:00 a.m. to 8 p.m.
