Services for Ella Mae Conaway Ham, 82, of Thomasville, are at 10:30 a.m., Feb. 8, 2012, at New Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member. Pastor James Redmond will officiate and interment is in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers are Rev Ham, Greg Davis, Leo Cooper, Tommy Haywood, Jerry Metcalf, Bryan Metcalf and Jerome Carr.
Mrs. Ham died Feb. 1, 2012 at Camellia Gardens in Thomasville. Born March 15, 1929, in Montcello, Fla., she is the daughter of the late Willie Gabriel and Mabel “Peaches” Conaway of Boston. In 1963, in Thomasville, she married Deacon Clayton Ham who preceded her in death on June 27, 1998. She attended Jefferson County schools and was a domestic engineer.
Survivors include sisters, Martha Ham of Philadelphia, Penn., Nellie M. Tillman of Philadelphia, Penn.; sister-in-law, Lela Mae Conaway of Monticello, Fla.; brother-in-law, Thomas J. Walker of Chicago, Ill.; adopted sister, Rosa McCollum of Monticello, Fla.; nieces, Mable Mohead (Willie) of Valdosta, Loretta Conaway of Chicago, Ill.; nephews, Frank Cooney (Mattie) of Valdosta, Cleveland Cooney of Thomasville, George Cooney (Georgia) of St. Petersburg, Fla.; special friends, Page, Mrs. Robert P. Crozer, Mr. and Mrs. Marty Wood, Mr. and Mrs. J.V. Shields, Mrs. Katherine Reed and Mrs. Ernest Sneed.
