Gerald West, 68, of Orlando, Fla., passed away Friday, March 1, 2013 after a lengthy battle with heart and kidney failure. He was born on October 30, 1944 and graduated from Hahira High School. Gerald worked in the oil and hydraulic industry as sales manager for over 20 years. He enjoyed listening to country music, fishing, flying, racing, golf and spending time with his family.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 23 years, Susan Gatlin of Orlando, Fla.; children, Jerry West Jr. of Louisiana and Teresa West of Lake Park; stepchildren, Kelly and Allen Gatlin of Orlando; brothers, Ralph West of Charleston, S.C., Tommy West of Adel and David West of Hahira; sisters, Dona Phillips of Ft. Mills, South Carolina, Diane Sawyer of Brunswick and Karen Williams of Hahira; grandchildren, Joey, Stephanie, Brian, Brent, Adam, Cole, Jordan, Caleb and Silas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and LaRue West; three brothers; Byron, Kenneth and Johnny West.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 5, 2013. Dove Funeral Home of Orlando, Fla., was in charge of arrangements. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery in Orlando.
