Malloy Thomas Jones

VALDOSTA — On a beautiful Tuesday morning, Jan. 1, 2013, the Lord took home a great Christian husband, father, grandfather and friend. Malloy Thomas Jones, 78, of Hahira passed away peacefully at Cook Senior Living Center after a lengthy illness. He was born on Oct. 8, 1934, in Guin, Ala., to the late Luther M. and Carrie Tidwell Jones of Barney, Ga. Malloy graduated from Morven High School where he was a member of the basketball team. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1955, and was a Seaman on the USS Canberra until 1958. He married his sweetheart, Elizabeth Profeta, in November of 1958, and they added six wonderful children to their family. Malloy worked in the Insurance industry in South Georgia from 1969 until 2000. He was also well known as a Greeter for the Perimeter Road Wal-Mart until 2004. Malloy loved the Lord and was a longtime member of the Forrest Park Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth P. Jones of Hahira; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Wanda Jones Mathewson and David Mathewson, Anita Jones Hughes and Gary Hughes, all of Valdosta, Kisha Jones Boccio and Vincent Boccio of Tallahassee, Fla., and Keri Jones of Birmingham, Ala.; two sons, Philip Jones of Hahira and Allen Jones of Adel; three grandchildren, Corey Jones of Valdosta, Brooke Jones of Adel and Ava Boccio of Tallahassee, Fla.; one brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Janie Jones of Barney; one sister, Myra Johnson of Augusta; sister-in-law and brother in law; Lydia and Steve Waliger of Manalapan, N.J.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, in the chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral Home, 401 S. Church St., Hahira, GA 31632 with Roger Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in the Campground Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
