Burma B. Meade, 81, of Lakeland, Ga., passed away January 10, 2013 at South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness due to declining health. She was born May 10, 1931 to the late Alton and Rachel Luke McMillan in Alapaha near Row Town Church. She was one of nine children and is survived by only one sister. She married Flavious J. Meade of Mount Dora, FL on November 18, 1950. The family moved from Mt. Dora to Enigma, Ga., near Sapps Lake in 1979. She worked at the TG&Y store in Nashville, Ga., until she retired. In 1995 she and her husband moved to Lakeland to be near her daughter and son-in-law.
Survivors Include her husband of 62 Years, F.J. Meade; Son & Daughter-in-Law, Michael & Maxine Meade , Roanoke, Va.; Daughter & Son-in-Law, Lori & Gary Yeomans, Lakeland, Ga.; Sister, Bernice Phagan, Canton, Ga.; Grandson & Granddaughter-in-Law, Christopher & & Amanda Meade, Rocky Mount, Va.; Granddaughter & Grandson-in-Law, Jennifer & Matt Rivera, Moneta, Va.; Step-grandson, Marty Yeomans, Nashville, Ga.; Step-granddaughter, Karen Yeomans Lee, Nashville, Ga.; 7 Great-grandchildren, Noah, Elaina, Conner, Rebecca, Natalie, Isabella, & Cristopher; A number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Music Funeral Services in Lakeland, Ga., with burial following in Greenlawn Cemetery.
