Betty R. Whiting Terry, 79, of Valdosta, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born April 14, 1933 in Norfolk, VA, a daughter of the late John and Doris Foreman. She enjoyed bowling sewing and reading.
She is survived by four sons, Rusty Whiting of Brunswick, Michael and wife Tina Whiting of Jackson, Frank Whiting of Valdosta, and Billy and wife Karla Whiting of Valdosta; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Whiting of Valdosta; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Clara Schofield of Wakefield, R.I., and Ruth Thomas of Coventry, R.I. In addition to her parents of North Carolina, Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Claude Whiting and Lonnie Terry, both retired from military service; and her brother, John Foreman of Valdosta.
Graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Riverview Memorial Gardens, with Dr. Skip VanNus officiating. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on this evening from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of South Georgia/Langdale Hospice House, 2263 Pineview Drive, Valdosta, GA 31602.
