VALDOSTA —
Gary Lee Frees, 69 of Lakeland, GA passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 after a lengthy illness. He was born Oct. 12, 1943 in Randolph Field, Texas to Roberta Watson and the late Lionell Frees. He retired as an Air Traffic Controller in the United States Air Force and was the Author of many programs still used today on airfields across the world. After the Air Force he went on to become a police officer in Valdosta, Ga. and then retired from the police force as well. He was a Baptist by faith and will be missed dearly by family and friends.
Survivors include his daughter, Sherry Hall, Walkers Crossing, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Christie and Matt Smith, Lakeland, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Sandra Frees, Walkers Crossing, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Mitchell and Amber Frees, Walkers Crossing, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Connie Frees, Ray City, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; many extended family members and friends.
As per his wishes he will be cremated. Memorial service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Music Funeral Services in Lakeland, Ga. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time.
