VALDOSTA —
Darrell Paul Smithwick, 70, of Lawrenceville, Ga., passed away on Feb. 17, 2013.
He is survived by his son, Scott Smithwick of Lawrenceville; daughter, Sally Jaye Smithwick, husband, Brian Wright; and grandson, Elijah of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; daughter, Jane Hutchens, husband, Mike Hutchens; and granddaughters, Kate and Lucy of Woodland Hills, Calif.
Mr. Smithwick was a member of the North Atlanta Church of Christ, a retired Senior Marketing Representative for IBM, a member of the Georgia Bar Association, and owner of law firm, Smithwick and Associates. Throughout his life, he was involved in many ways as a volunteer within his community and through his church in such outreach programs as medical missions, substance abuse programs, elderly advocacy, and mediation. He was a devoted, loving father, grandfather and friend and will be deeply missed by his family and community.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Mr. Smithwick will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at 11a.m. at the North Atlanta Church of Christ in Dunwoody.
The family will receive friends Friday, Feb. 22 from 6-8 p.m. at Tom M. Wages Funeral Home in Snellville.
Mr. Smithwick had a deep passion for the Predisan ministry in Honduras, and a memorial page has been set up where donations can be made in his memory.
