Neyron Dorr Elerde Durrence, 94, of Clyattville, died on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at his home after a short illness. Born in Collins, Tattnall County, Ga., on Aug. 17, 1918, he was the son of the late John James Durrence and Thelma Ree Phillips Durrence. Mr. Durrence was a retired labor supervisor for Owens Illinois and he was a WWII veteran.
Survivors are his daughters, Joyce Ann Register of Colchester, Ill., Thelma Ree and Mack Chaney of Adel, Gloria Jean Masters of Grandview, Mo.; a son, James Michael and Vickie Durrence of Lake City, Fla., daughter, Mary Helen and Terry Sparrow of Macomb, Ill.; 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Audrey Dehart.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters and a grandson.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. Mike Brown will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Dasher Cemetery. The family of Mr. Durrence will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m.
