Betty Sue Hayes Goggans

-- — Betty Sue Hayes Goggans, 81, of Tifton, formerly of Cook County, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Coffee Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 10, 2013, at 3 p.m., in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with Elder Thad Marshall and Elder Tony Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service.

Mrs. Goggans’ grandchildren, Chase Goggans, Cole Chason, Will Goggans, and Jake Goggans, and her nephews, Tim Marshall and Mike Futch, will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Goggans was born Sept. 26, 1931, in Adel. Her mother, Ollie Mae Cowart Hayes, preceded her in death. Her husband, Jerry Linton Goggans, Sr., one brother, W. D. Hayes, and four sisters, Onnie Mae Griffin, Mildred Simmons, Hazel Faircloth, and Gwen Doolin, also preceded her in death.

A lifetime resident of Cook County, Mrs. Goggans had lived in Tifton for two years. She retired as head teller at the Citizens Bank of Tifton. She served as a Pink Lady with the TRMC Auxiliary, and loved reading, shopping, and traveling. Mrs. Goggans had traveled all over the world. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Adel.

Mrs. Goggans is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Lin and Judy Harris Goggans of Tifton and Dr. Greg Goggans of Douglas; one brother and one sister-in-law, Fay Carol and Audrey Jean Hayes of Virginia Beach, Va.; her grandchildren, Chase Goggans, Laurel G. and Cole Chason, Will Goggans, Sarah Goggans, and Jake Goggans; and many nieces and nephews.
