Omie “Ms. Omie” Smith, 81 of Lakeland passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012 in South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, Ga. She was born on Dec. 5, 1930 in Gainesville, Ga. to the late Herman Edward and Cozetta (Deaton) Smith. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Lakeland, Ga.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Roy Alton Smith, Lakeland, Ga.; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry E. & Kay Smith, Valdosta, Tommy A. Smith, Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Ricky A. and Linda Smith, Pridgen, Ga.; grandchildren, Kristy Henrdix, Brandon Smith, Arlo Smith; great-grandchildren, Camille Beam, Mary Chandler Beam, Madison Beam, Raegan Smith, Kaden Smith, Conner Hendrix; sister, Peggy Graham, Broxton, Ga.; brother, Wayne A. Smith, Tellico Plains, Tenn.; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012 in the First Baptist Church in Lakeland, Ga. with the Rev. John Bracken and the Rev. Bob Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in Central Baptist Church Cemetery in Coffee County, Ga. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. this evening, April 13, 2012 at the funeral home in Lakeland, Ga.
