William Henry Peters

VALDOSTA — William Henry Peters, 68, of Ray City, Ga., passed away Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at South Georgia Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born Oct. 25, 1944, in Hahira, Ga., to the late Henry and Ruth Joyce Peters. He was a member of Cat Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Lowndes County. William’s loving smile and outgoing personality will be missed by all his family and friends. He was a cattle farmer and will be remembered for his bull, Hammerhead. Mr. Peters, in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by a daughter, Billie Ann Peters; a sister, Lynell Peters; and two brothers-in-law, Charles Gibbs and Francis Parker.

His survivors include his wife, Cathy Peters, Ray City, Ga.;

children, Scotty Peters (Rose), Engima, Ga., Billie Jo Johnston, Corpus Christi, Texas, Tora Stewart, Atlanta, Jason Peters (Jessica), Ray City, Robert Keeffe (Brandy), Norfolk, Va., James Keeffe, Lakeland, Ga.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Christell Gibbs, Ray City, Jeanette Parker, Hahira; a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in Cat Creek Cemetery in Lowndes County. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Donations can be made to the Cat Creek Cemetery Fund.
